Bharathiraja
The 70s in Tamilnadu was a period when love for city life and modernization was booming. This strong infatuation found its way to the Kollywood industry. It was during the same era that a cult classic, “Padinaaru Vayadinile” was delivered to the Tamil audiences by a director whos name would go down in the history of Kollywood as one who can handle any genre with realness and dexterity
Bharatiraja started off his film career as an assistant director in a Kannada movie. His thirst for a different cinematic genre and art of direction propelled him to create Padinaaru vayadinile which would go on to win National level accolades and later serve as a reference point for any director who would like to focus on rustic genres
He, however, did not limit his art to rustic movies. He went on to break every cliché that was dubbed about him by the media with his consecutive movies; each having a different genre. In addition to directing, he has also tried his hands at screenplay, production and acting subsequently winning awards and hearts of Kollywood fans.
